I worked as a teaching and research assistant in Civil Engineering Department of Middle East Technical University (METU). The courses I assisted include "fundamentals of steel design", "structural analysis", and "civil engineering design". My research topics included structural health monitoring and seismic vulnerability assessment.


Jan 2011 - PresentMETU

I am working in the project "Improving the Design and Construction Practice in Turkish Bridge Engineering" as a researcher, covering software development needs of both administrative and academic areas. I designed and implemented the web-based document management system of the project as well as an earthquake design spectrum generation software and a helper utility for determining the most suitable bridge type alternatives to a given valley.


Jan 2010 - Jan 2011METU

I have worked in the project "Developing an Inspection Framework and Software for Inspection of Railroad Bridges" as the head researcher. By studying the world practice, I have worked on establishing a framework suitable for Turkey for the inspection of railroad bridges. In addition, a pc software for field inspections and automated reporting is developed within the project. After a series of educational seminars given to inspectors, Turkish State Railways still use the inspection software throughout Turkey.

    Damage and condition identification of existing structures using non-destructive tests is a common challenge that has been worked on for a long time. In this book, two different methods were developed to find existing force on cables as well as determine bending characteristics (EI coefficients) of beam like structures (such as bridges).
